Comment on The Bottle Kiln by Timo

Hi, I am a male(!) regular user of the Bottle Kiln, and its biggest draw is the coffee, so I am surprised you found the coffee unappealing. I love my cappuccinos, and when I go travelling around I tend to rate coffee shops from 1-to-TheBottleKiln (where a BottleKiln cappuccino is the one to beat) as I have yet to find a better coffee to rate them against. And I have been to a lot of coffee shops! However it can depend on the staff member as to who makes the frothiest cappuccino, for example, and the coffee flavour itself can vary on the seasonal blend of beans they use at any one time.

Like you mentioned, the regular one-shot coffee can be slightly weak, so you can request a double shot in any coffee type (cappuccino, latte, etc.) for a super kick. It will knock your socks off.

Again, like you, I wished there were perhaps more cakes on display, but usually they have freshly baked cakes and puddings on the side. Their Lemon Meringue is to die for, but certainly not cheap, and you have to get it while it lasts! It flies off the shelf.

I have yet to see any flies on their cakes though, and I visit throughout the year. You must have been incredibly unlucky in that aspect.

We pulled large sections off because the plaster underneath was so rubbish that it wasn't holding properly and then scraped as much as we could. After that we used water and cloths to soak the paper and then it peeled off easily. The downside is that it's very sticky and a nightmare to get rid of once wet. I know you can both buy and rent wallpaper steamers/strippers and I might have done had I known how hard it would have been from the start but I never got around to it.

How did you wind up taking all the paper off, scraping? I've heard that steaming it with an iron helps as well, but I've never tried it. *sigh* I'm living vicariously through your home improvement projects, and it's looking SO nice! Can't wait to see the painted rooms! :-)
